Adopt a Cat or Kitten

PEOPLE FOR CATS adopts cats and kittens to appropriate and responsible homes. Before they are adopted, all cats are examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated against rabies and distemper, are tested for leukemia and the feline aids virus (FIV) and, if 6 months or older, are either spayed or neutered. All cats and kittens are treated for fleas and intestinal parasites. Young kittens are given age- appropriate vaccines. (Kittens cannot receive the rabies vaccine until they are 12 weeks of age.)

Prospective adopters are interviewed by a PFC volunteer and must respond to the Adoption Questionnaire. On the day of adoption, cats must leave the shelter in a cat carrier.
