Adopt a Cat or Kitten

PEOPLE FOR CATS strives to adopt cats and kittens to appropriate, responsible and loving homes. Before they are adopted, all adult cats are examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated against rabies and distemper, are tested for leukemia and the feline aids virus (FIV) and, if 6 months or older, are either spayed or neutered. Young kittens are examined and given age-appropriate vaccines. (Kittens cannot receive the rabies vaccine until they are 12 weeks of age.) All cats and kittens are treated for fleas and intestinal parasites.

Our Adoption Procedure

Prospective adopters will speak with one of our Adoption volunteers about what kind of cat or kitten they are looking for and what kind of home life they offer in order to make the best match. After visiting the cats and kittens, if there is a suitable match, the adopter will fill out a questionnaire about themselves and their household. After paying the adoption fee, adopters can take their new cat or kitten home with them. Cats and kittens must leave the shelter in a cat carrier.
